He further states that Engineers, with their technical knowledge and new materials, build structures that represent the symbol of innovation all the while architecture is still stuck in the past, unable to let go of the previous artistic ideals and build a new one that represents the new world of industries. In the seven essays he compares Architecture to engineering field stating, how architecture has lagged behind in its knowledge of the industrial age. The book was written in French in 1923 and translated to English in 1927. Towards a new Architecture, titled Vers une architecture in French, is a collection of seven essays written by Le Corbusier to dismiss the art deco and eclectic movement prevalent during that time and establish modernist principles as the solution for the industrial age. In this book, the first to be written by Le Corbusier, advocated for it serving as a manifesto for modernist movement. He was also one of the first people to embrace and explore the modernist architecture. Le Corbusier was a Swiss-French architect, designer and urban planner. In a world of architecture, le Corbusier needs no introduction.
